Graphic design and it's history?? Say what!!!

Well my current background on design I don't know how to explain except in how I think of it. Well graphic design is a very viable art source, and is very interesting, but I am adamant towards it because of it being not so hands on.

I'm an illustrator, I do everything by hand, and not knocking graphic design or graphic designers, the majority of it is computer based. Now I love the conceptual nature of graphic design and the compositional nature as well, it's just not my forte.

This brings me to my goals/objectives for the future of me learning about graphic design an it's history. Because it's not my forte, I want to know how it started, and how it was done prior to the computer. Was graphic design solely hand-based in the beginning, or did it evolve from the birth of the computer? (some of you reading may be like your an artist and you don't know) well yeah, I don't know because I'm not a "graphic designer" I'm an illustrator, but don't get me wrong, I am very excited to know and learn about graphic design, it's start, and how it relates to me (more importantly how it relates to my "hands")

That is all!!!!

  1. You must have fallen asleep when they went over this in highschool. God made an Adam and Eve, and Steve Jobs disguised as a serpent tempted them with the forbidden fruit. Suddenly, they had the ability to do everything effortlessly and instantaneously, much like God could. God said, "There can only be one!" and the rest is history. I'm pretty sure you could have just googled it.
